Give back what MS takes away

MS is a devastating condition that can affect every aspect of a person’s life – from little pleasures through to mobility and quality of life. Across the country we are seeing the threat of MS growing by the year.

In the past five years alone, the number of Australians living with MS has increased by 30%, while the number of MS nurses has declined, NDIS funding is under attack and the cost-of-living crisis means living will an incurable disease puts even more pressure on the bank balance.

Your generous donation can help us continue to give back what MS takes away.

"I have MORE of everything now."

Aaron's MS diagnosis in 2007 was followed by a series of devastating losses. As he tells it, his symptoms took “My career as an engineer, my relationships and friendships, my accommodation, my mind (both memory and cognition), and finally my independence.”

Thanks to the kindness of MS Plus donors, Aaron’s story doesn’t end there.

Aaron was given the chance to experience independent living in a welcoming community at Ms Plus Lidcombe Home. He also had access to state-of-the-art gym equipment and physiotherapy at the Wellbeing Centre next door and did his first ever wheelchair yoga class!

Today, Aaron has a lot to look forward to.  But there are many more people like Aaron who are missing out of the care and support they need today.

"They helped me believe in myself again."

Connie’s vision problems, pain and fatigue began when she was 12 years old. She had to take a year off school, but doctors couldn’t tell her what was wrong.

By the time she went to university, Connie’s symptoms were worse. But she had to wait six months to see a neurologist who specialised in MS.

Desperate for answers, Connie sought expert advice and support. An MS Plus Nurse “listened, validated my symptoms, and gave me practical ways to cope.”

It was Connie’s turning point.

Today, she’s pursuing a PhD to help others on their journey to their diagnosis.

She hasn’t forgotten how the support of MS Plus donors helped her through a terrifying time.

But 1 in 3 Australians with MS still don’t have access to an MS Nurse.
