It's estimated that around two-thirds of people living with MS are also living in pain.
From aching sensations to debilitating nerve pain, MS-related pain can have a devastating impact on a person's life. And yet there is so much we don't yet understand about it.
A Christmas in pain is no Christmas at all. Please donate today to support the innovative research projects that could transform our understanding of MS-related pain and drive new developments in pain management and care.
"Nerve pain is horrendous. It stops you in your path." - Emma
That's the scary part because you can be somewhere that's not appropriate, or you're by yourself. I've had to withdraw from a lot of things I used to do. I don't drive as far anymore. I have this fear that if I'm far from home, no-one can help me. I'm just not as carefree as I used to be."
Emma's pain has also had a huge impact on her ability to take part in her daughters' lives, "it breaks my heart because I miss being able to be a good mum and take them to do things."
For Emma, a life without pain could be truly life-changing. "If I didn't have pain, I'd be out there with confidence. Pain management would be everything, it's the freedom you have."
Your donation today can help fund new research in to MS-related pain and give people like Emma hope for a pain-free future.

Transforming our understanding of MS-related pain with Dr Alice Saul.
“Your contributions could help accelerate the pace of research and transform scientific insights into better pain management solutions for people with MS."
- Dr Alice Saul
Dr Alice Saul is a postdoctoral research fellow at the Menzies Institute for Medical Research at the University of Tasmania. Currently, her research is exploring the different types of pain experienced by people with MS.
"Pain is a common and often debilitating symptom that greatly affects the quality of life for those living with MS." Dr Saul explains. "Despite its impact, MS-related pain is still not well understood. I wanted to focus on this area to explore better ways to manage pain and improve the lives of those affected by it."
With a better understanding of the different types of pain in MS, Dr Saul's research could lead to more personalised treatment options that vastly improve quality of life for people living with MS.
Your support can help uncover new and more targeted treatment options to take the pain of MS away.
